Benefits Of Obesity - You Are Kidding, Right?

Is it true? There are benefits of obesity? Surprisingly, statistics has shown that obese people with heart diseases outlive slimmer people with similar heart diseases. Thus, researchers are trying to determine how obesity is able to protect the heart and keep overweight individuals from dying earlier than slimmer individuals.

Researchers have a hypothesis that since an overweight person’s heart is attuned to the condition of working hard to cope, then a slimmer person may be at risk more since his or her body is not that well accustomed to heart difficulties. This is a new finding and there is not much data yet to help find the exact cause or reason. Nonetheless, it is a great benefit of obesity.

Furthermore, obese individuals have more energy reserves which they can use to fight infection. Not only that, but since they are known to be overweight, they will seek medical consultation earlier than slimmer people, helping them find health problems first and get necessary treatment.

The leading cause of increased blood pressure, increased bad cholesterol levels, heart disease and diabetes has been obesity. However, these people are least likely to die from a heart attack or stroke compared to a slimmer person with the same health problems. The reason for this is because the obese person’s body is accustomed to the condition of having these factors in the body. Therefore, the body has adapted ways to compensate, compared to a slim person’s body which has not yet learned the means to live like this.

However, gaining weight is not a slim person’s answer to fixing these health problems. In fact, sudden weight gain could cause severe side effects on a person’s body, destroying the body’s equilibrium and homeostasis.

Researchers are trying to isolate the gene that causes obesity in people. If this gene can be found, we can be one step closer to finding a solution in stopping obesity, subsequently finding a massive cure for people at risk of stroke, heart attacks and more.

No matter what your size is, you should know that it is ideal and beneficial to exercise and diet. Eat nutritious food and stop eating those bad cholesterols, large amounts of sodium, and all those bad chemicals and substances for the body. Eat right and drink lots of fluids to flush out toxins from your system. But for now, learn to love yourself. Even in the current situation, there are still benefits of obesity.

  1. i was surprised with the content of the article. i didn't really expect that there could be any good effects in being obese. but i wouldn't still want to become one. if you think of it, there are still more benefits of having a healthy body than being obese. what the article was stating was just a few of the many things you can have of having a normal body. if you are obese right now, then this article might be of help as a confidence booster. it doesn't mean that you can be like that forever, you still have to get out of it. and for those who are diagnosed to have heart disease, obesity is not the cure either. this article i think was not intended to convince obese people that they are healthy and to convince those with heart failure to become one. it is just a way to show that even in a state like being obese, there are still good things to look on the other side.

  2. "are you kidding me?" this was the first question that popped up my mind when reading this. haha.

hmmmp.. but this article has a point. if you are fat, then you have lots of energy. but on the other hand, being obese is not healthy. just like what ms. tan said, " there are still more benefits of having a healthy body than being obese."

  3. Another mind blowing article from yomama... Hehehe

I was smiling when I was reading this article. Obesity after all has its own "good effects." I agree with everything Ms. Tan stated. Obesity might have its own use but it doesn't mean that you should just let it be.

It is still recommended that obese people try to lose weight for the benefit of their hearts. The more weight they can lose, the better it is for their heart. They are also more likely to exercise more, which in turn exercises the heart and makes it stronger. They just have to remember not to overdo it. People who are able to make the changes necessary to eat healthier, exercise more, and lose some weight, can reduce their risk of developing heart disease.

  4. hey..What is this??Obesity has its benefits?I believe that fat people have the strength more than a normal person can have but I don't believe that it has its benefits.Even if it has its benefits we all know that it will all end up badly because it is unhealthy.

  6. Oh my God.... those are the first word i utter while reading this article for i never really thought that obesity have it a good effect on a persons body, i only knew that being overweight have negative effects that is harmful to your body.

Just as to what Ms Tan said, "you don't have to become obese forever" and that I firmly believe that it is right because even though you are not at risk in developing any heart disease but still there are many kinds of disease that affect our body just like me which is diabetes.

And also I'm certainly confused why do obese people have lots of energy in spite of the fact that most of them get tired easily especially when they are running. right?

Well all i can say is that even though obesity have a positive effect in our body but still it has plenty of negative effects in our body so its still better to have proper diet and exercise in order to have a healthy because the more healthy you are the longer you live..

  7. Ms. Teves: is that so ms. Teves? well, you better believe what's written above...hahah
and also... are YOU really ONE OF THOSE DISEASE which can affect our body? (better reread what you have posted above ) "just like me which is diabetes" ..hahaha what a comment!..I DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU ARE DIABETES! .,..can't really help it!..hahaah...sorry ms. TEVES!

  8. Aren't you just too harsh Ms. Concepcion, though, their is truth in your words.

I agree with you Ms. Teves. Diet and exercise are really important. As I have said earlier, constant exercise would not only make you lose weight, it can also make your body and heart stronger. The stronger your body is, the more resistant you become to diseases.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Maybe your not really paying attention as to what other people say Ms. Carcallas because I already said it in the past articles which I have read especially about diabetes....

And also Ms Carcallas I'm just saying that I too myself is at risk of having that disease and I'm not referring myself as the disease itself...

    Are we clear now???
    :)

  13. Ms. Teves: well It hink that YOU SHOULD REALLY make sure that you check what you have type and posted...FOR YOU SEE, SOME PEOPLE MIGHT GET THE WRONG IDEA AND NOT WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO THINK...
I must say that you should really lessen your carelessness...hahahah...sorry for that word...are you offended?

    ReplyDelete
  14. ms. carcallas: aren't you too harsh about ms. teves' statement? i think the sentence structure isn't that right but the point of what she's saying was there. though, good that you've corrected her but at least try not on that manner. hahaha. (NO OFFENSE) :))

  18. Honestly, I was not shock like my other classmates here. HahAHAHAHA!! I always believe that things have advantages and disadvantages. Like for example a lot of people were killed during that typhoon Ondoy but if you really think deeper it was good because at least the population decreased. Dead people can be use as fertilizers for the soil too, see there is an advantage but the disadvantage is to their love ones. I hope you guys get my point. So obese people has some benefits like they have lots of energy. To Ms. Teves, my answer for your question is this, the reason why obese people have more energy than slim and thin people but gets tired easily because they have lots of fats and fats is stored energy but it doesnt mean that it is being used.

So stay fit and healthy as always!

    ReplyDelete
  19. "No matter what your size is, you should know that it is ideal and beneficial to exercise and diet". >the exact statement a person should live by. i agree with what the others said. We should not take for granted the currently healthy body we have right now. if you are obese, do not be too proud of it, you are still at risk of developing other health conditions. i was not that shocked about learning some advantages of being obese, since the explanation, technically, made perfect sense. but do keep in mind that this article does not promote obesity. . "learn to love yourself", once you do, you're on your way to deciding what's best for you.

    ReplyDelete
  20. And if they are using their energy they wouldn't be fat , did you get it?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I believe the point of this article is to boost a very little confidence to the obese people, ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  22. unbelievable!...first time I heard that obesity has its own benefits 'coz I'm used in hearing the bad side of it! I support Ms. Tan's idea. Even though obesity has its good effects we shouldn't be too confident about it... we have to remember that proper exercise and balanced diet is the key to a good and healthy body. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. "at least the population decreased. Dead people can be used as fertilizers for the soil too" -andromedes sabay.

    >kinda heartless. you should've made a better example. but point taken.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Mr. Sabay: if that's your mentality, i guess that's good for you.i can conclude that you must not be judgmental but always remember that you would want the advantages more rather than the disadvantages.

    ReplyDelete
  25. mr. sabay: i think nobody would really want to become fat. though, being fat or obese has its advantages but it doesn't mean that you would just continue your life being like that. remember that obesity is one of the causes of death, it would risk your life from several health diseases. so, as what ms. suarez has said, "if you are obese, do not be too proud of it." you must love yourself by taking care of it and learn to know that proper exercise and diet is really important no matter what size you are in. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. @ Mr. Sabay: i get you point Mr. Sabay but i agree to Ms. Suarez. your example was kinda harsh. you could have stated a much better example.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ Ms. Tan and Ms. Suarez, I'm stating it because its a disadvantage thing to have a lot of dead people like obese too. I'm just stating the advantage side of the disadvantage in which it is true but harsh. I think it was a better example, why don't the two of you give me a better example than mine?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Ms. Ocon I'm sorry I forgot to put in my first comment that I don't encourage obese people to stay obese.I do agree with you and Ms. Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Benefits of obesity? Oh my! it kinda shocked me! HAHAHAHAHA. well... it's still a hypotheses, a scientific guess... I know the consequences of being obese... so the thing is (even if we always repeat these stuff) we should have a balanced diet and exercise that's all! :)

Yeahh, I know it sounds easy, but it's quite challenging for me :P Being obese makes you a candidate for other diseases which makes your health at risk... :O I don't want to have those diseases.....

@mr. sabay: your example was really harsh... there's nothing else I can say...

@ms. teves: I'm one of those who gets tired easily... HAHAHAHAHAHA

@ms. tan:I agree with you. I know that having a healthy body has more benefits than obese people... :D

    ReplyDelete
  30. "ohws?,, really?" were the firsts words came out from my mouth when i read the title.. this article is the first who gave me this idea.. thanks to yomama..
i totally agree with what ms suarez stated that this article does not promote obesity but to boost the confidence of those who are obese.
for those who are not obese like me, just stay healthy and live your life to the fullest..let us be mindful that being healthy is not just enough. aim for a high level of wellness

    ReplyDelete
  31. ok mr. sabay. apology accepted! haha. i was just trying to clarify what you said earlier because it seems that your previous comments are encouraging people to stay obese. hehe

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ Mr. Sabay: easy, easy Mr. Sabay. well, if you want an example of an advantage from the disadvantage, you could have just make use of disease carriers like fireflies and mosquitoes. we all know that they bring harm to us but on the bright side, they exist to maintain the balance in our ecosystem. they serve as food for other animals like frogs. :)

let's not argue about it, what we are trying to focus here is the benefits of obesity.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ I'm not mad, I just want the two of you to give an example, well your example is nice but I think my example was better because as you can see there are still advantages even it was a great disaster. To my example, I am not in to it and its just an example not my mentality and whole being.

    ReplyDelete
  34. chill! you two..your already discussing about our ecosystem.
i agree with you mr. gervacio that balance diet and exercise are very beneficial to one's health..
so i challenge you mr gervacio. to do what you stated coz' it's really helpful for you to resist and prevent such disease.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Seriously? Obesity has a good side? No effin' way.. It's really amazing to know that obesity has its positive side.

But now i'm confused. I don't know what article to believe right now. Do i have to maintain my weight right now (normal for my height and age), or do i have to gain more?..

@Mr. sabay: I think you're being too harsh on the Sendong victims. Yes the population has decreased but did you also think that they're working people? They contribute to our economy. It's not only their loss, it's our loss too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Okay, I'm confused now, first infertility, now, obesity has a good side? Whoaw! Oh well, let's just leave it that way, atleast people who are obese dies slowly. Hahaha. Just joking. Ughh! FOOD! YOU'RE SUCH A KILLER! GRRR! :/

    ReplyDelete
  37. [I’m typing my comment with great caution because we have a grammar police spotted, @Ms.Carallas’ comment to @Ms.Teves’ “…just like me which is diabetes” :| omg]
Hahaha, this article really got some reactions. As I was reading the comments above, a lot of ppl were like OMG! SRSLY? REALLY? I’M SO SHOCKED! U KIDDING? Yeah all those a little exaggerated stuffs. -___-‘ I mean, being obese can’t be that bad. I know ppl didn’t mean to write their comments to be offensive but it can be offensive to some, and this is the internet. You don’t have to be so shocked. A lot of obese are happy, and this article could prove why. I wish I could have said what @Ms.Tan said first, this article is not to encourage obese ppl to continue being obese, but to make them realize benefits despite their condition and how some people think they’re a little hopeless. @Mr.Sabay, I think that was the best example, it was so hilarious that people really got your point despite asking you for a better one. Hahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  38. When I read the title of the article, I thought "everything really has its own advantages and disadvantages." It is good to think that obesity has its own advantages but it does not mean that you should stay obese or even become obese. As the article has stated, the advantages are still not proven. Always maintain a good diet and proper exercise.

@Ms. Roferos: It does not mean you have to gain. This article just looks at the bright side of obesity. But it shouldn't stop you if you really want to gain. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  39. Even though Yo' Mama posted advantages on being obese, I'm still not confident about this. I'm still not in favor in obesity (now, who would want to, by the way?). Anyway, it's still good to read about this especially on people who are currently obese and are having a hard time in losing weight. But still, as I have already pointed out, we should never bear in mind that being obese nowadays is healthy. And we should always remember that it brings bad things more than how it protects us from any heart attacks, strokes, infections or whatsoever. I know people who have XXXL body frames but still, they make the hospital a vacation house. :)

    #lovelots

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Ms.Concepion, you say that obese people has the strength than a normal person? NO, the truth is. they are weak, they have a lot of things in mind and they just hide up what they feel.
    #icanrelate:)

    ReplyDelete
  41. like most of the peoples reactions....really? ;Are you kidding me? ;weh? i can relate..hahah i never thought that being obese still has its benefits..but really it only applies on limited types of diseases such as coronary diseases soo like miss tan said..."having a normal body is still better than being obese.."

though i am still happy that being obese has still has its benefits..thanks Yo Mama for the article..i dont feel so bad anymore...hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  42. Like everybody I was really surprised! I was like "Did i read it right?..Benefits of obesity? Oh My gawsh!"

This is really the true meaning of "looking into the brighter side":)
@ Yo'mama thanks for this rally interesting article. I'm really curious while reading it:)
While reading the article even though it presents the advantages of obesity, I just want to stay like this. Being obese, for me, has still higher risk for getting various diseases.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I definitely agree that this article is a confidence booster to those who are obese, As Ms. Tan has stated. To make them realize that the world is not totally looking down on them.:)
And to make them realize that there are benefits.

Eating nutritious foods coupled with exercise is a great start to be healthy, and to prevent diseases:)

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Ms. Roferos again its only an example. Why cant you get it? To think again, even though they are working people there are more unemployed people here. Isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Miss Roferos, I think you are not reading properly on my comments, its the Ondoy victims! :P

    ReplyDelete
  46. first things first, mr. Sabay, i found your Ondoy example really crazy but true and practical :)))

Unlike the others, i wasn't as surprised since i read about this topic recently in yahoo if im not mistaken. haha. this is a nice-to-know article about obesity, thanks YoMama for spreading the news :) at least there's a bright side with being obese. But this isn't bright enough to stop me (if i were obese) from having second thoughts on losing weight :D because this doesn't change the fact that obesity is still linked to numerous diseases. and like what ms. tan said, obesity is not the cure to heart disease.

okay so, if i were obese, i'd be able to breathe a sigh of relief because finally, an advantage over the thin people hahaha >:)) but then again, this news isn't a smart excuse to stay obese. in my opinion anyway. :D

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ Ms. Rosales, I'm glad you understand it though its crazy. :))

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree with Q. Conception that there are no benefits in being obese. It may be harsh to say such a thing, but reality hurts and we have to accept it.

Yes, people with obesity are more capable of fighting infections in the body due to their energy reserves. But I don't think this counts as a benefit because despite this fact, they still have a higher chance of getting health problems like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, et al. People with diabetes may seek for medical consultations first to be able to find solutions to their health problems. But then again, if they kept fit they wouldn't have had these health problems in the first place.

I'm not saying that if the person is not obese he would not have health problems. I meant that if the person is obese, there is a higher risk of getting the disease.

But the opinion of one person about himself is what matters most. So if the person believes that obesity has its own benefits, it would be great if that person keeps in mind that despite the fact obesity has its own "benefits," it is a lot better to keep fit.

    ReplyDelete
  49. This article made me happy. Maybe because I could relate with it. HAHAHA. I will totally share this with my relatives because most of them are obese. Thanks Yo Mama. :)

I wasn't really shocked with this. Maybe because I believe in the saying that there is always a positive side to everything.

This may be a confidence booster to the people that are obese(as what Ms. Intong said). But this wouldn't stop me from trying to lose weight. Yes, there are benefits in being obese but what about the harmful effects, there are more of it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Indeed, a self-boosting article for the Mr. and Ms. Obese. I really appreciate yo mama for sharing this article because I do believe that those fat concious people who will read this would surely have a great smile 8D. Not because they know that they're more better then the slim ones but to know the fact that there are still lot of things to be thank of than to be depressed of.

Ms.tan and Ms. Suarez, I don't find Mr. Sabay's example as harsh because he wasn't showing any offensive gestures against the typhoon victims ,thus; he was just stating a scientific fact and reality that each of one must know. People come and people go. We all will die @ the right time.

Mr. Sabay, thanks for the very informative and knowledgable example. Don't worry, I and Ms. Osias got your whole point ;)
Everything in this world got its advantages and disadvantages.

I guess, Yo mama wants us to learn to accept and respect each others physical aspects (and opinions as well) and learn how to value our body's needs and limitations.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @ mr. sabay: i said that i got your point. you want a better example? let's see.. how about volcanic eruptions? if you did not know.. volcanic ash increases soil fertility for forests and agriculture by adding nutrients and acting as mulch.

setting examples is not that relevant to our article right now. i was not trying to offend you, if you must know..

@ms. niala: i believe that was not mr. sabay's intention. he was trying to give an example of things that are a disadvantage to some people but can also be served as an advantage at the same time. the idea was not "People come and people go. We all will die @ the right time". but anyways, you still stated in your next paragraph, "Everything in this world got its advantages and disadvantages". haha.

  53. REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS THIS ARTICLE FOR REAL?????? OBESITY has its own BENEFITS? Well, thanks to yo’mama.NOW I KNOW.hahahaha. :))))) a MUST tell!!!

Indeed, this article will serve as a confidence booster especially to obese people who have been trying to lose weight for quite some time now. BUT this doesn’t mean that you should be confident of being obese because when you are obese, you are at risk of developing heart disease, hypertension, stroke, gall bladder disease and a lot more when compared to slim people.

To ms.niala, I too doesn’t find mr. sabay’s example harsh. i think, I just a matter of how you perceive it.

I guess, this article is intended to persuade obese people to lose weight for their own benefits. The good news might have given them extra energy to go the gym (don’t you think so??????) :)

    just saying!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. i never beleived that obesity has it's own way of giving thanks, like advantages. ahhaha, a new leason learned from Yo Mama. @Mr.Sabay: when you said that when people start using their energy, they wouldnt be fat, what do you simply mean? how about hypothyroidism? they're fat but they cant perform much energy, remember?

    ReplyDelete
  55. HEY! Ms. Carcallas, don't give such demands to someone to believe this article right away. The researchers are still working on this since it is a NEW FINDING. They just have that certain "hypothesis" on how fat people have an edge in withstanding heart disease better than slim ones, which could still be wrong. we never can tell!

And partly the same idea with Ms. Niala, this article has a purpose of encouraging obese people to keep going, ( and not commit suicide or anything odd to give Psychologists and Med team additional jobs and theories for them).

    sO, KudOs!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Errr..these OMGs, R U KIDDIN?, I WAS SURPRISED!!! SHOCKED!!! are natural words to come out from uninformed minds yah know!? Ms. Osias ;) and i get it okay, they're exaggerating their reactions and are overreacting. Maybe obesity is really BbAaAdD for them (sigh!) SarrEy folks!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow. Obesity has benefits? Amazing. I was shocked after reading the article because I never thought that obesity has a positive side too. I agree with @Ms. Selloria's opinion that this article is a great booster to obese people but this does not mean that they should be confident of these benefits. Rather, this should be a challenge for them. A challenge that could help them avoid doing their habits of becoming more obese as much as possible. Because @Ms. Concepcion's idea is true too. Somehow, I've reconsidered the fact the obesity don't have benefits. Reality check, harmful effects of obesity are more visible versus the good effects of it.
While scrolling the page, I found the comment of @Ms. Osias and @Ms. Tan and I totally agree with the both. We have same thoughts.
    @Mr. Sabay
Great idea bro! Your comment is funny but it is absolutely true. I don't find it harsh. It's cute. Hahaha. Keep it up bro! I agree with ya. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Mr. Carcallas: I agree with Ms. Padigos and Ms. Ocon. Please don't be too harsh. There are really times that we can't really express what we want because of many barriers, but Ms. Teves' point is there.(no offense)

Mr. Sabay: I only noticed it now. Yeah, your comment has taken me aback, but true enough:) We really have our own perception and yours is kinda unique.:)

Still, this article is an eye opener for all of us that we should never be too comfortable that obesity has its benefits.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @Mr. Sabay: yerr comment is really funny. hahaha. but still, it's true that obesity has its pros and cons. it's common sense for all of us that it has much more negative effects, but hey, the article just stated hypotheses and researches. they are not yet established, unlike the things we know of (like how fatty foods could affect us, etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  60. @Ms. Remeticado: i have to agree with you. hehe, i mean, the bad thing about this article is that if obese people will read this, they now have a reason to stay fat (if they have a shallow mind) because of the 'benefits'. and because the article stated that these things are still in the works, i'm not a full believer. and even if these 'benefits' would be established as facts, i would never wish for a bigger frame. no way! i've had enough of the emotional scarring. i'm tired of being fat. :(

    ReplyDelete
  61. @Ms. Bispo: teeheee, i don't mean to burst your bubble. i mean, you could feel happy right now because the article stated 'benefits' of being obese. but it also stated that ADAPTATION is the reason why it maintains functions amidst the risks. what if your body fails to adapt then? you should always consider that. so to play safe, aim for a normal body mass index instead. not necessary a great, shapy bod. just right for you i guess, if you feel comfortable about it. :D

    ReplyDelete
  62. ;)))) great!yo'mama, this really is a good article!! there were really stuffs in this topic that i just knew now. .

Obesity for all of us, gives nothing but headache due to lots of negative effects it brings to a person.. When you're obese you're likely to have lots of health complications and sometimes because of your figure people laugh or make fun of you..

@ms.Seloria..yes! you're definitely right... Even though obesity has a positive side they must not be confident enough.. They must set goals..knowing the positive side of obesity they must still aim to have the right kind of figure to live in a happy and healthy life..

@ms.Buencaloloy: me too. i never thought that obesity has a good side .. because all i keep on hearing is the bad effects of being obese..

Do you know that being obese can really protect your heart especially in people who have already heart problems? Since , they are overweight they're body is used in working hard to fight from other diseases . And the more weight they lose, the better it is for there heart..

This article is really amazing! good job yo'mama!!;))

    ReplyDelete
  63. All I can say is "WOW!!!" I just just can't believe that being obese also has positive effects in our body. I kept on putting in my mind to be weight conscious 'cause this might bring something horrible and might change everything. :)

Honestly, I don't have any plans to risk my wight just to protect my heart. lol There's still other ways that can help me without changing my body weight. Anyway, if you're really health conscious, then you can always avoid diseases, right? So, again, I thank you @Yo Mama for informing us about the positive effects of obesity. :)

@MS. Alpuerto, I agree to you Ms alpuerto, obesity really brings us headache and a lot of complications! :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. this is something really awesome Yo'Mama!! two thumbs up! I bet obese people were really happy upon reading this article.. It's a good thing that you kinda lift their spirits up compared to those other articles which upsets them more of their condition.. keep it up!! It really goes to say that in every darkness, there is still some light and if I am one of those obese people now who is reading this article, I would really thank you.. You're making me to look forward for your other articles to come..
This is something worth sharing for.. YOU ROCK!! =D

  66. I agree to those people here who believe that the article may boost fat people's confidence. They may use this article to defend their selves. Yeah, it's really a nice advantage for them. I think they have another advantage like when they are engaged in a fight, most of them win coz they kick their opponents' asses bcoz their are huge and covered mostly by fats.

    @Mr. Sabay
Man, I read your comment because many people here are talking about your example. Well, your comment makes sense but you don't need to give an example like that. I understand that you want your comment to be catchy but I'm kinda worried coz what if there's a person who might read your comment a person who has a relative who is one of the victims of Ondoy. It's POssible right?? Imagine what will happen!!!..

ahaha,,THUMBS UP FOR THE FAT SPIDERMAN!!!

  67. @ms li: i strongly agree with your point, i think there are more negative effects than the positive ones.

it's true that their hearts are already immune in hard work (huh? ^^) but how about the other effects of obesity? i don't think it should they should be disregard. Good thing if only the pumping of the heart is the only thing that matters in our health but there are a lot of other things that may be a factor that cause illnesses to occur with obesity.

i think the point of this article is being optimistic on the 2 known positive effects vs. all other BAD effects of obesity. I say it's only boosting up their determination and ego but it's doesn't imply that it's okay to stay obese... ^^

yo mama, thanks again, you made me realize how i should be minding about my health. GAWD! everything has been clearly explained - GOOD JOB MATE! anyway, really? is obesity really good? hihihi well, now, my perception has been changed :O everything really has its pros and cons, good and bad. in the end, it's all about acceptance and LOVING THYSELF! INDEED! (ooooooooohh, i feel like such a sir right now) anyyyyyyyyyyyyyhow, i really find this really odd but swell. MIND SHIFTING. again, a good article :) i have a question tho, which is better, getting slim? or being obese? and no in betweens (physically fit) especially with regards to those conditions specified above. :)

  69. @mr sabay: no matter how i look at it in different angles, i just can't see a reasonable explanation why you have taken that specific TRAGEDY as an example. No offense meant, but it's really much of a pain for the family members, if i was one of the family members of the one who died in that incident and i'd be able to see your post, i'd be really really frustrated...i also have that view, all things have the advantages and disadvantages but i still don't find it reasonable... but then, still, point taken and it's your opinion.. (as what ms. rosales told me) ^^ i can't mess up with it that much.. tehee

@ms suarez: nice examples... i strongly agree with your points regarding other people's comments... :P

  70. @Mr. Sabay:

Got your point there Mr. Sabay! When there is an advantage, there could be a disadvantage too.

However I strongly dislike your example posted above. Why?? because frankly you're being insensitive. Just like Mr. Amil said "you don't need to give an example like that....what if there's a person who might read your comment a person who has a relative who is one of the victims of Ondoy....".(btw,I am not judging you right away. I'm just expressing what's on my mind right now.No offense Mr. Sabay)Specifically the way you constructed your stated example.(If ever I have offended you, please do say it.)

A piece of advice..Be attentive on whatever you want to post. :D
Well knowing the hypothesis that being obese has some good side, I hope obese people will feel happy about this. However it is not a good idea to feel relief at all since choosing to be in a healthier side is much better.

I think a lot of people would say getting slim because:

    a. it's more socially acceptable.
    b. it's more socially acceptable.
    c. it's more socially acceptable.

oh come on. let us not be hypocrites here. we all know that people's decisions are always influenced by what's wanted by the society-- no matter the advantages or disadvantages.

  72. I got your point Ms. Carnicer. Though the article is pro-obese or overweight because it says “Benefits of Obesity”.I still think that the benefit is still too little compared to the consequences you have to face if you’re obese or overweight. You’ve adapted! It’s the main reason why you can say there’s a benefit of obesity but isn’t it one of the factors why you’ve develop such disease/s? Besides Slim or thin people aren’t that much of a candidate in developing these diseases than obese and overweight people, so why be happy about it??? Still, for those who are obese or overweight don’t make this article as an excuse of not living a healthy life…

  74. woooow..! "are they sure...?!" this was what my i thought of when i read the title..i mean.., come on..! OBESITY HAS benefits..?! i never thought that such problem, that lead to more and more problems., can have benefits..! i mean., everone knows that obesity is one of the leading causes of heart problems., high blood., and so much more.. but never did it came to me that it can have benefits.. benefits that lengthens one obese person's life..compared to slimmer people., which is then said to be much more prone to illnesses..! (gosh...come to think of it....im now afraid of having such serious conditions just because of my weight..! :sssss)

hmmm..but then again..a person only becomes more vulnerable when he/she doesnt observe proper diet and exercise.......soooo.. that means....,obviously, the healthier your diet is., the less chances of having heart diseases, hypertension, stroke and much more..but if it runs in the family.,proper precautions can be observed to lengthen one's life..

therefore...one doesnt really have to be obese to live longer...he/she must only be mindful of his/her body.. :)))))))))))

thanks for this interesting article yo' mama..! keep posting those awesome articles..! God bless..! :)))))))
