Weight Loss Myths (First ONE)

Weight loss is an answer to a lot of weight problems out there. Since a lot of people talk about this topic a lot, it is unavoidable that some Weight loss myths will come afloat. Let’s discuss some myths about weight loss and the consequent truth behind them.

It is said that tremendously cutting down the calories you take in will help you lose weight faster. Well, this is true. You do lose weight if you cut down a lot on your calories. However, you’ll be barely left alive to enjoy all your lost weight. This is the first weight loss myth.

Calories play a vital role in our bodies. Similar to how a car runs with fuel, our body works with a rich supply of energy from calories. You need energy on things you do like walking, talking, laughing, running, and a lot more. However, did you know you also need energy to do things you can’t control within your body? You need calories to breathe, pump blood, digest food, fight infection, and a lot more.

Depriving yourself of adequate calories will starve your body. This can leave you feeling weak, dizzy, light-headed, and in pain.

Tremendously cutting down calories will deprive your body of its source of energy and will result in looking for alternative sources of energy. Energy is stored in fat and muscles, so it metabolizes fat and muscles for energy, making you lose weight. Isn’t that great? Wrong. It’s not. Excessive fat and muscle metabolism releases toxins and wastes to your blood stream. These harmful chemicals are called ketones. When too much ketones are in your blood, you develop a coma. That’s when you fall out of consciousness and you can’t wake up until the problem is resolved.

Doctors say that taking in lesser than 1, 000 calories a day can be dangerous. That is why you need to take in adequate amount of calories. You don’t need to cut them all out of your daily meal. You just need to eat them in moderation. Consult your doctor for a safe amount of calories to take daily, which can keep you healthy and help lose weight.

Never starve yourself in an attempt to lose weight fast. There are a lot of ways to lose weight that doesn’t involve you risking your life. Consult a professional when looking for a weight-loss diet. Never experiment because the price could be your health. Please be aware of this fundamental first of the many weight loss myths.

  1. Thanks for the article - good stuff! I'm on track to drop some pounds and get in better shape (before I look like that guy diving in the pool in your picture above). :)

  2. Yey! Myths! Thanks Yomama for this informative article.

Calories are indeed needed and used by our body. A calorie is a unit of measurement — but it doesn't measure weight or length. A calorie is a unit of energy. When you hear something contains 100 calories, it's a way of describing how much energy your body could get from eating or drinking it. Too much calorie can make you gain weight, however too less of it, as quoted by Yomama "an leave you feeling weak, dizzy, light-headed, and in pain."

One way to avoid both is by knowing the amount of calorie in the food you are eating... But personally, I don't care. I mean, I don't mind being fat. Come on guys, would you still count the amount of calorie you're eating when you are enjoying your food? I certainly wouldn't. Isn't it scarier to have a deficient amount of calorie in your body than having them in excess? Just think of it, THIN and DEAD.....

    ReplyDelete
  3. I believe that one should not follow this myth because it will just slowly kill the body.Ms. Traces,it doesn't also mean that you should eat all the food that you like even if you know that it contains high amount of calories.Just enjoy it with moderation.:)
I knew a little bit of fact on how to lose the excess calories.Simply smiling, laughing or even kissing can help in reducing those extra calories. You shouldn't deprive yourself from calories but be sure you can remove the excess cause it is also bad to your health.

  4. weh! ...;D
well, I don't really think that it's wrong if you're counting your calorie intake or whatever food you put into your mouth....many people are doing this to achieve their dream to be thin and at the same time, look sexy...
and also, not keeping track of how many calories you have taken in is ,for me, not right .. because you are not aware that you have already taken in too much of this and that this might result to something bad...TOO MUCH OF SOMETHING IS BAD baya ms. traces ..no offense..heheheh..
    :P

  5. I know too much is bad, no offense taken Ms. Carcallas. But think of it this way, when you eat Fries for example, are you counting your calorie intake? No offense meant but, do you count your calorie, not only to Ms. Carcallas but to all who read this comment? I am only stating my own experience but I do believe that most of you isn't mindful of their calorie intake.

  6. This article really gives information necessary for everyone to know and that's because of Yo'Mama... well thanks for this article it made me realize how important calories are..

@Ms Traces, I would like to say that there are some people who are not minding their own calorie in take but still you should have to consider taking calorie moderately because we might not know there are some negative effect in taking in of too much calories in your body.

And i would like to tell those people who are on a low calorie diet (esp. those wanna get sexy) because it can cause Gallstone ( increases the production of cholesterol in the liver, causing supersaturation and leading to gallstones because of low calorie diet)
and Cardiac Dysfunction (protein depletion involving the heart, thus leading to cardiac dysfunction due to low calorie diets)...

So everyone, I'm encouraging you all to stop low calorie diet but i know some would still insist will its your choice but for me, I'm just concerned with your health. :)

  10. Ms. Traces: of course not, but you see people are not eating fries everyday..and besides fies are made of sweet potatoes right? which means that fries has LOW CALORIE CONTENT.....
what can you say Ms. Traces? whahah..no offense.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Guys, no offense meant (again) but before you judge me or tell me to mind my calorie intake, would you ask yourself first... "HAVE I EVER COUNTED or EVEN CARED ABOUT MY CALORIE INTAKE?" I know, I feel, that most of you if not all would say they "no,have never", not until this article anyway.

  13. Just proves Ms. Carcallas that I don't care about my calorie intake.

    ReplyDelete
  14. opposite to ms. traces, I REALLY MIND BEING FAT.. my god, who wouldn't like to have a sexy body? hahahah. lucky to you ms. traces that you have that body. if i am you, i would really count my calorie intake EVERYDAY. as in EVERY single day.. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ms. Teves: sorry to butt in but ...I searched about your question... and i found out that kissing DOES reduce calorie.
.Kissing burns calories, 2-3 calories a minute and can double your metabolic rate. Research claims that three passionate kisses a day (at least lasting 20 seconds each) will cause you to loose an entire extra pound!
So? what can you say Ms. Teves?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Would you really count your calorie intake Ms. Andales? I'd keep my eye on you then... Hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Ms. Traces, I know too that most of us don't actually count our calories daily but at least we do still have moderate intake and unlike you we do still mind it like me for i myself is also at risk at diabetes because it runs in our bloodline....

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. thank you for this article, Yo'Mama. :D

finally, an eye-opener for those who are weight conscious and are fooled by the "not-eating-to-get-skinny" mentality. i don't blame those who practice this, because society are pushing them to be skinny and so far, this is the easiest way to get thinner without the hassle of exercise or taking note of your calories. :))) but knowing the ill effects of depriving yourself from eating sugar or carbs, i would just stick to gaining a little weight.

@ms. andales, won't you feel tired of counting your calorie intake every single day? :))

    ReplyDelete
  19. yes ms. teves Kissing burns calories, too. Professor Bryant Stamford postulates that a deep, passionate kiss may double your basic metabolic rate and burn as many as two calories a minute. Do the math.

Kissing for 15 minutes burns approximately 30 calories. If one were to kiss passionately for 15 minutes that might lead to other calorie burning activities such as sex which may, of course, lead to more passionate kissing.

  20. @traces: the purpose exactly of reading this article. we are advised to start counting our calorie intake. there's a site called "calorie counter", you can google it if you want to. i myself am starting to count my calorie intakes. i even installed a theme on my phone that lists the number of calories in foods that we commonly eat (which you must have witnessed). to answer your question, having deficient calories in your body or having them in excess should not be even considered. actually, both of these conditions are very life threatening. you say, THIN and DEAD? then there's also FAT and DEAD. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ms.Traces: Well, I'm not judging you in the first place.. hahaha.. yeah, I know your not minding your calorie intake (and I can feel it just by reading what you have posted)..
And I know, I can never force anyone to believe me and make them change their beliefs.. that is your belief ..and this is mine..so?what can I say?
    hahah:D

    ReplyDelete
  22. no ms. rosales... i won't feel tired on counting my daily calorie intake if it concerns my body. LOL. :)

ms. traces, i said earlier ago that if i have that kind of body, same as yours, i would count my calorie intake but sad to say i don't have so why bother. haahah

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't count my calorie is because I don't mind nor do I care. Besides, I don't think I can get fatter than "chubby". It's in my genes. All my family members are ranged from normal to thin... But what's not to say I might get fat right, we would never know.....

    ReplyDelete
  24. @traces: so are you saying you are refusing to budge even after yo'mama posted this article for us to learn from? no one's forcing you since only YOU can lead your life. you say you love to eat, but counting calories doesn't mean you should NOT eat this or NOT eat that. counting your calories will not end the world for pete's sake (excuse the expression). it just makes us aware. so that we would be able to compensate all our eating through exercise.

ps. it is important for people with hyperacidity (YOU) to burn calories through exercise. so it is very helpful if you, yourself, start counting (since you're pretty good at math, haha, lame joke) your calories. but really... its all up to you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. ms. andales, wow you're really keen on achieving the sexy body. :)) well, good luck with that and i'll support you hahaha

ms. suarez, i don't think being fat might directly lead to death. hahaha. too harsh. being fat does not automatically doom one to a shortened lifespan. In other words, it is possible to be fat and fit. Of course that does not happen without effort. [Research published over the past 15 years indicates that those who are fat and fit practice healthy lifestyles. They are physically active, eat a nutrient dense diet, and get enough sleep.] for me, the condition here is unhealthy and dead. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. @ ms. joy rosales: i think you're misunderstanding me here. i did not state that being fat will directly lead to death. with the articles we have read recently, i think we are more aware of the possible conditions obesity might lead us to. when i said "fat and dead", it was mean't to match ms. traces' choice of words. please do read our conversation. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. hahahahahahaha.. well, thanks ms. rosales.

    ReplyDelete
  28. oh, i'm sorry. i just misunderstood. :) because for me, fat doesn't technically mean being obese. i didn't get it when you used the word "fat" to actually mean "obese". haha

    ReplyDelete
  29. it doesn't ms. joy rosales. there is a difference. but there are ways of putting a single thought to different sentences even though they don't literally give the same meaning. its called, using sentences figuratively. hahaha. oh but you understood immediately when ms. traces said "thin and dead"? :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. funny may it seems, I look at the calorie content of what I eat especially on Large pack of Junk foods, yes, it's good to know that we need a min of 1000 calories to sustain our activities, well, I'm really trying my best right now to lose weight, so i try to skip meals and end up having stupid stomachaches, It's really good to know about this things relative to what i'm trying to do with my body weight right now, I couldnt help myself comparing my weight w/ the skinny girls around. :/

and to Ms.Traces: good for you that you have those type of body size range in you family, but enjoyment doesn't last forever, i do count my calories sometimes, but still enjoy my food especially if it's just a hundred, are you saying that we should focus on the food (taste) rather than it's content?

    ReplyDelete
  31. ms. buencaloloy: don't push yourself in that manner if you really want to lose weight. i think skipping your meals isn't a good idea at all, though it would probably help you to lose weight but i would like you to know the consequences about it. you make risk your life from sudden death. so would you like it to happen? and besides, what is the reason behind why you wanted to lose weight? you're not that fat at all you know. HAHA. i'm just so curious about it. :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. woah! counting calories or not?...well I guess I take the neutral side, if there is one! lol! Ms. Andales, I somehow understand what you feel. I even try to count my calorie intake to achieve my desired weight but..isn't it tiring? I mean, determining how many calories is there on every food we eat is too hassle. In Ms. Traces' case, good for you! You have a nice body...unlike me. :)
Sometimes a person needs to monitor the calorie intake even if he or she has a thin body in order to balance their diet.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ Ms. Traces: i don't think that your stand about eating is right. as what Ms. Andales stated, lucky for you because you are thin. but being a thin person doesn't really mean that you are already healthy. there are a lot of thin people who are diagnosed to be less healthy compared to those who are way more fat than them. it is okay to enjoy but i would suggest you to have a healthy eating. i mean, you don't need to stop eating it, as stated in the article, and mostly, you don't need to measure it. you just have to make sure that it is not too much for the body.

this article is a big help for those who are striving to loss weight like me. i have also known someone OUT THERE who stops really eating anything that has high calorie. i can say that if she has read this article i would be very thankful. i was on my limit already of telling her that it is bad but i don't want to insult her. so, this article was in the right timing :). i also plan to share this with my mom because she is more worried about my body size than me and she really scolds me a lot when i eat foods which has high calorie. now, i can tell her that it is not healthy. so to those people who are starving themselves about these food, let us enjoy it like Ms. Traces but LET'S ENJOY EATING THEM IN A HEALTHY WAY!

    ReplyDelete
  34. ms. ann suarez : yeah, i know what using words figuratively mean. i learned that from english class. hahaha.
when i read the statement 'fat and dead' it sort of made me generalize that fat people have more chances of dying early or something. same goes with the 'thin and dead'statement. my bad for not getting your figurative point :))
well, i just wanted to make a point that being fat doesn't necessarily mean being unhealthy and being dead early. because there's 'fat and fit' & 'fat and unfit'. that's all. hahaha. as with the 'thin and dead' statement, similary, there's 'thin and fit' and 'thin and unfit'. you can be a fat or thin with a fit and healthy lifestyle.
sorry for the long comment. :))

    ReplyDelete
  35. thank you for your defensive explanation ms. joy rosales. i, too, know what you mean since i am aware that being fit comes in different sizes. it's good to have our points clear. And for the record, what ms. traces and i mean't was obviously not the "fit" description of being thin and fat. thank you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. MYTH! meaning it's not a fact. It's just a freakin' belief, proven and tested.

As stated in the article above, reducing large amount of calorie intake in our daily diet is a major stupid misconception! I mean how can you do work without energy? It's like killing yourself softly. As quoted above, "You need calories to breathe, pump blood, digest food, fight infection". See? so we really need to take adequate calorie for survival.

Ms. Andales: your not fat, your just chubby. Being fat is diff'rent from being chubby. I think your just a bony person, that's why. But if you insist, you can at least take less than the amount of calories you used to take before.

Ms. Buencaloloy: I agree to Ms. Ocon's advice. Skipping meals is definitely a no no! Even depriving yourself from the foods you wanna' eat. 'Cause the more you refrain yourself from eating, the more you crave for food, more than what you needed.

SO EAT, LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE! :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. I do like to gain weight a little bit because I think it can make curves to our body. I have a BORING body. So i do eat a lot. Though I'm still full from my snacks, I still eat a lot during lunch time.

Yes, most of us don't do counting on the calories we ate 'cause we tend on munching the yummy food right away. Same with Ms. Traces, I don't count my calorie intake 'cause honestly I don't care and just enjoying the food! :)) But the problem is, most of the foods I ate were not healthy. (bad!)

~Ms. Marturillas, I'm with you :) I'll also take the neutral side. To take it in moderation!

Calories aren't but at all. Let's do a lot of activities, keep our bodies busy to burn down the calories! :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Our bodies definitely need calories in order to function. Not only for our daily activities but also for the life sustaining processes or whatever. As the article has said, we need at least 1,000 calories a day.

I haven't really tried counting my calorie intake. I know that knowing your calorie intake is important, but I don't know. I just really don't care. Haha. But thanks to this article, I will start trying to monitor my calorie intake.

@Ms. Carcallas: About the number of calories in french fries, I think its the preservatives that causes it to have a high amount of calories rather than the potato itself :D

    ReplyDelete
  39. that is why this article is called 'weight loss myths' because there is no assurance of this being true.

@ms. Carcallas - yes, there is really nothing wrong with counting calories but in my opinion, I consider this act as being overacting. I'm not being judgmental or something, no offense. you see, we eat a lot of times in a day. do you think you are still able to count the calories that you are taking in? and considering the fact that there are a lot of ingredients with what you are eating and those ingredients have their own calories. so basically, you really can't count those calories.

I also want to lose weight but I don't think counting calories could help. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. i understand what you feel too ms. marturillas and ms. tan. i guess we have the same concerns. IT'S OUR BODY right?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah, a stupid myth on weight loss...

well I don't count the calories I take in a day because:

I don't know how many calories are there in every food that I eat!

    and

It's way too tiring! I know when to stop eating you know! I just lack exercise that's all! :P

see? you really need calories for energy. you should not cut your calorie intake.... Moderation is the best... too much of it is really bad for your health.

I just don't understand how people see their body, I mean why they say that they're fat even though in the eyes of others they're not??? oh well, I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

    EAT, PRAY, and LOVE!!!
    :D

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well keeping track on our calories is kinda very tricky and sometimes tiring but i guess it's effective, just like my cousin who jot down, choose and weigh her foods everytime (imagine that..and she's been doing it for years). uHHmm successfully she got the body she wanted now despite those barriers and temptations in front of her...

@Ms. Conception: well now thats a mind blowing fact girl...uHhm sO how about we put it on a test and kiss your special someone for hours and alternately....eey why won't we????(*laugh)just jokinG..i'm just trying to cOOL down this hot comment box down here so no hard feelings..

Thanks a lot yO.Mama!!!!! BTW that billboard up there will cause a huge tsunami down here hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  43. @rosales.

i don't think it's the easiest way. i have to disagree with you on that. if you've read the past article a few days back (and i'm sure you did hohoho), not eating can make it worse with regards to staying thin. and an add to that, negative psychological effects can happen and a lot of aspects can be affected. it's not easy to stay away from food -- or eat it, then puke it afterwards (ew) like what some people do. food is a necessity. not having it is like, not having it. joke xD but really, it's not the easiest way to lose weight if you're asking me.

i guess there isn't an easy way. everything needs hardwork to pay it off. gawd, if only everything was as easy and fast as a snap of a finger, but it's not :( soooooo saddd :( anyway, the best thing would probably have to be HAVING DISCIPLINE. it's not easy, but it's really effective. taking in the right amount of food, having adequate exerciise, you know, all those stuff. calories? i don't think we have to count them. just, you know, notice what you're eating then counteract with necessary actions.

:) would you risk your life just to get skinny? i wouldn't. i'd rather stay fat and proud ( which i'm not :'( ) than having to be sticks and bones.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fast Weight Loss tricks can be very helpful for anybody to reduce stomach fat.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Ms. Buencaloloy AMAZING! You're counting the calories of the junk foods that you eat (I can't do that) but I have to disagree with you. I agree with @Ms. Roferos - it's a myth. Losing weight is not easy. As for me, I don't think that we really need to count the nutritional contents of every little thing that we eat, it's very hassle and tiring. The important thing is - control. We can't resist food. Whether you want to lose weight or not, food tempts you anywhere and any time. If you're fat or thin, just be happy! @Mr. Arizobal said it all, I could really agree more with him. He already said everything I want to say. STAY FAT (if you are) AND PROUD. But remember, COOONNNNTTTTRRROOOLLLLL. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I really hate the fact that I AM GETTING FAT RIGHT NOW. Honestly. But, I am still happy. Haha. Piece of advice - if you want to eat (like really really eat), just eat. Okay? But make sure that you have a time for your "PIGGING OUT" and that time should just be for one day. Once a week. Don't stop yourself! Because if you do, you are already killing yourself. Be like me, I PIG OUT once or sometimes, twice a week. HAHAHA. And again, always remember to just control. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. okay, i think you guys shouldnt watch out how much calories you intake cause you'll get too much pressured about it and you end up eating a lot the next meal so there's no use.

ALL IT TAKES IS DISCIPLINE BROTHERS!

#JUST SAYING: OH YES! LOSING WEIGHT IS NOT EASY, IM WORKING WITH MY WEIGHT FOR 24 HOURS ALREADY! AND I HOPE IM DOING THE RIGHT STUFFS TO LOSE THEM BELLIES! LEZ DO THIS! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Calories are the basic unit of energy found in all foods and are necessary to maintain the body's vital functions or basil metabolic rate.
i really don't mind counting the calories in my food.. like ms traces said. coz' if i am watching out for my calorie intake, i won't satisfy my craving... To measure how many calorie intakes is not an easy task, you need to make a list of the food and drink you eat every single day.
just self-discipline (if you wouldn't want to be like the fat person diving on the picture above)
i love food, but i hate getting fat..just stay in control.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks Yo'MAMA for this informative article.

I agree to all the people who said calories is the basic unit of energy needed for human beings to maintain body's vital function. I'm with Ms. Traces and to the other people who doesn't count their calories because for me why would I count the calories if I have a lot of assignments to do. I don't need that, all I need is to control and eat moderately. We all know that we need to maintain homeostasis as as always.

Counting calories is for insecure and sick people only, hahaha (its true! :P).

    ReplyDelete
  50. I also like the part that smiling, laughing and kissing can help reduce calories. At least that's all you need to do, very easy!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Another constructive article from Yo’Mama. Thanks!!!

This article only proves that calories aren’t bad at all. they are needed by our body to perform essential functions such as breathing, pumping of blood, digestion of food, fighting infection, walking, talking, laughing, running, and a lot more.

Like ms. Traces, I really don’t mind or count my calorie intake.i just eat and eat and eat, not actually minding what I’m eating as long as I’m munching something.(I actually wanted to gain weight badly because my mom said I’m too THIN daw.TAKE NOTE:THIN not SLIM).:))))))

To ms.daguman, we have the same sentiment.

To ms. casals, I do agree with you about counting the calorie intake.i find that somewhat annoying.NO OFFENSE MEANT. if you really wanted to lose weight, I don’t think, it is of great help. losing weight is just a matter of DISCIPLINE and SELF-SATISFACTION.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ Mr. Sabay: Kissing? is it really easy for you to kiss a girl? HAHAHAHA! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks Yo'mama for this wonderful article. It's really interesting:)

Iam kinda surprise that calorie cutting is a myth and should never be done coz we're only starving ourselves.

@Mr. Sabay: I also kinda like that smiling and laughing can reduce calories.no sweat at all:D

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think diet alone won’t help you lose weight. We also need to be physically active to let our body burn enough calories and keep us on the right track to a healthy weight loss. I guess we do not need to hit the gym everyday or run for an hour to reach your goal. Instead, we can take the stairs perhaps, do some stretching when we wake up or just walk short distances...:D

I encourage you guys to do this for a healthier life:D

    ReplyDelete
  55. Seriously, I don't really count my calories, but I also don't want to eat a lot, coz seriously I feel uneasy if my stomach is full, like really full. I also feel uneasy while sleeping, that's why to solve my problem,I'll just eat right. Enough for myself, not so full and never empty:)

    ReplyDelete
  56. @ Miss Tan, All I can say it would be easy for me if its my gf or wife but I'm not saying at this moment. It's an off topic! You won't get any score from it, focus on the article.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @ Ms. Tan, I'm not only saying that kissing is very easy, take note I wrote smiling and laughing. hahaha. I wonder why you were so curious hahaha!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Ms.Remeticado, yeah, i read them. but i don't really mind them, hahaha. as long as it does reach in a four-digit range :)

@Mr.Sabay: hahaha, i just think Ms.Tan is oh so interesting about your Lovelife, what makes it a part of article guys? :P

    ReplyDelete
  59. @Ms.Ocon: ahaha, I just feel fat that's why. I just think i'm heavier and all. And Skipping a meal doesn't really cause death? does it? It's skipping MEALS that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. @Mr. Sabay: hmmm...for people like us who are on the sinking side of the ship, it's pretty hard. you wouldn't know what it's like because obviously, you've never had a 'fat phase' in your life. good for you because you don't have to give a damn bout the things you munch on. personally, i crave for the 'bawal' foods like lechon (roasted suckling pig), chicharon (crispy pig skin) and others. but know what? i can't have them whenever i want to (like you can) because i get so conscious as hell. you should probably understand how hard it is for us EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. hahahaha (no offense, k? :P). so what are you stressing on the statement 'only insecure and sick people count calories etc, etc?' we are insecure because of our appearances. isn't that normal? so what if we count calories, you have to understand that we are concerned about how we look. it's not easy. you shouldn't stigmatize us because of the emotions we have to deal coz of our weight. it really sucks. :))

    ReplyDelete
  61. "Never starve yourself in an attempt to lose weight fast. There are a lot of ways to lose weight that doesn’t involve you risking your life."

    - I love that line from the article.

Basically, the article hits directly to people who are suffering anorexia nervosa, since they are the ones who has the mentality of starving themselves to get thin and in result of not still satisified with their weight in the end they still think they need to lose calories more.

I say, be careful to anyone of you up there who thinks counting calories in every bit of what you eat can really help you manage your weight. Yes, it can help you manage but aren't you worried you'll end up over reacting and end up having this mental disorder?

Im quite worried with miss Remiticado in here who says she's getting fat in which i can see that she's still average, maybe you gained weight but that's way too far from being fat.
The same goes as well with Ms. Andales who wants to count her calorie intake in every bits. ^^ [hi partner]

  62. @ms. intong. i like the ides about the taking stairs rather than elevators and stretching thingy... i also walk everyday and it is really effective in losing weight... these practices are more natural and inexpensive.
@ms buencaloloy, for my own opinion skipping meals can't cause death but there are other complications if you skip your meal which can cause death. don't skip your meal if you don't want to be ill.

  63. losing weight is not really that important especially for those people who just wanna look good..admit it guys, you're losing weight not for health purposes but to make your crush glance on you as you pass by.. (don't deny it,I've done this before)hahahaha!!just remember that we are all beautiful.. if a guy or a girl loves you,it shouldn't be because of your body but by thy heart..hello?!why refuse those delicious foods?!xD

    ReplyDelete
  64. @Ms. Ganir: Hahaha, it's understandable why people are like that. in this society where one is judged by appearances, looking and feeling pretty is really a priority. like it or not, we all yearn acceptance. so basically, that's why weight loss programs were made. anyway, losing weight has its benefits for the health. take it from me, i don't really like to be skinny. i just want a size that i'm more comfortable with. a size i could be at ease in. because i really don't feel good about my physique. :))

  65. @Ms. Nuez: don't you think counting calories is a form of discipline? i mean, if you know that you're eating too much based on your calculations, you'd actually lessen your food intake. that's discipline enough. you're making a conscious effort to stay away from those unhealthy choices, trying to find healthier substitutes with lower calories. righhhht? ;)

  66. ms. buencaloloy: what i'm trying to say is that your body is at risk if you continue your poor eating habits in which you deprive yourself from eating your meals just for a reason that you're getting fat. as what yo'mama mentioned in his article, "you need calories to breathe, pump blood, digest food, fight infection, and a lot more. depriving yourself of adequate calories will starve your body." so i hope you won't follow that mentality that in order to lose weight, you should skip your meals. you just have to try another way. hehe :))

  67. I'm going to have to agree with F. Traces (gooo Frances \(^^)/.. haha). :) With all the food that we eat in a day, it's impossible to keep track of the calories we have taken in. Not only is it hard to keep track, it's also a hassle and may add to stress (haha.. to me it does~~ tried it once before.. it did NOT work out >_<).

For me, it's better to eat a LOT (not having to count the calorie intake). This is because you have an option of exercising to burn down the weight you gained. Unlike not eating at all, then you would end up as F. Traces said, "thin AND dead."

    J. Buencaloloy: I don't think you have to lose weight. You're fine as ice~~ ^^ But then again, a person's opinion of himself is more important than the others. ^^ Just saying though. :D Don't skip meals~~ it will only make you crave for food more than the usual (as what was written in the past article ><) ;)

  68. @Ms. Andales: You are really well-informed about kissing and sex huh? Haha. Anyway, thanks Yo'Mama for your very helpful articles. About that counting your calorie intake thingy, I would really be your follower if you can do that. Hahaha.

  69. @Ms concepcion: so do you suggest that we should get our kissing partners in order to lose some weight? hahahahaha

  70. Some people are so desperate to lose weight they don’t realize that their risking their health and life. K so, I don’t get why ppl here are arguing over the calculating of calories. The article didn’t even say that you have to calculate the calories; you just have to watch your daily calorie intake. I think everybody’s old enough to know whether you’ve eaten enough or too much. If you can’t stop yourself from eating too much, do as you please, but do enough exercise (and do it srsly, ugh).
And to those who srsly want to calculate their calorie intake, Hohoho g’luck:

  73. Calorie is indeed a unit of energy which plays a vital role in our body.

thanks Yo'Mama for this additional information WHICH IS A REMINDER TO EVERYONE that we need or should I say, we SHOULD be concerned to every count of calorie that our body intakes that's why as we observed, almost all of the food products have nutrtional labels to help us, CONSUMERS, on controlling the energy intake.
In my own point of view, a calorie in every drink, food and activity is closely associated with the weight so every gain or lost must be considered.
But, making this as for losing wieght is also a risk in our lives.
Yes,there are many other ways to do this but we cannot deny the fact-- as our calorie decreases, we must maintain an adequate nutrients intake.

THERE'S A RIGHT NUMBER OF CALORIES FOR YOU.

like Ms.Traces and other's viewpoint-- MOST PEOPLE NOW DON'T LIKE COUNTING CALORIES FOR IT IS Time-consuming....But it's proven that managing this is just like having a healthy eating plan in which sometime, be our everday lifestlye.

so guys, i respect your opinions.

  74. Have you ever tried measuring your daily calories intake??just wondering by the way Mr. Amil

Indeed it is BEST RECOMMENDED to pay attention of the daily calories intake.Because too much of calories may lead to overweight.

But then too little calories intake may lead to
    -decrease metabolism
    -nutrition deficiency
    -and organ damage

    ReplyDelete
  75. Ms. Osias, calculating is the way of watching calorie intake... It's by looking at the nutrition labels on packs and wrappers of food. But sadly, hamburgers and the like don't have that label on them, which have high contents of calories.

Maybe in that case we'll just have to W O F the characteristics of the foods we eat. Okay!?

Since people here have done vast researches about how to cut down calories in the body, I could not add for more.

    :))

    ReplyDelete
  76. @Vien Salera: hahah... I've never done measuring my daily calorie intake yet (as if you were asking me;).

People are too busy and sometimes lazy to do something like that. And it's not something to be of even a third or fourth priority for people like me, Sabay, and for those who are sailing with us.

As long as we eat, there'll be no decreasing of metabolic rate and anything. Otherwise, we should be keen and watchful with what we eat. WE are MATURE enough to decide for ourselves. :D

Ring the Bell. Be concern :)))

  77. @Ms.Laguda, right. it depends cause for some they really do lose weight and some did not. i mean its okay to count them calories up! not stopping you from doing it guys. the thing is, counting calories causes food disorder. its either you get obsessed on recording = forgetting to eat and losing weight or getting lazy to record about it = getting obsessive to food and get fat again, either you get obese or malnourished. whatever it is, i still think still ITS A MYTH. :)

  78. Personally I don’t count my calories… Well once I did when we were taught in high school about calories and stuff. From my personal experience I does made me feel weak and later on it became too much of a hassle, especially if your already in the process of eating :D. Yes I don’t currently count my calories but it doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t eat moderately. And now that it’s proven that starving oneself isn’t really gonna help you lose weight and be healthy. Why the hell count? it’s not practical to count our calories if there is nothing wrong with us because we ARE BUSY and all, and for me there’s much more important things to do than counting calorie intake. There’s a lot of other healthy ways to lose weight too other that starving ourselves like, the day to day stuff we have to encounter like what ms. Intong have stated about stretching, walking, taking the stairs, etc. Those aren’t that difficult especially if they’re already incorporated with our daily routine.

DON’T STARVE YOURSELVES IF THERE ISN’T A POINT TO IT!

  79. hmmmm..wow..counting your calorie intake..? not once did i try to count how many calories in my food..o.O all i do is just eat and eat and eat and eat..! ...hmmmm..is that a bad thing..?? :/ i hope not.. XD.. well., for people with wieght problems., counting your calorie intake does give a big help to losing weight..one can do as many exercises and routines in losing weight., but one cant still pull it off if he contijues to eat food that contains large amount of calories..its like emptying your cup., then just filling it up again..

in order to have a really effective way to lose weight., we should not just be mindful of the food that we eat., but ALSO the amount of calories it contains.. :)

remember., losing weight doesnt only require you to sweat all the time..sometimes it requires you to be vry mindful of what you're eating...and what's in it..! :))))))))))))

  81. Well this article is something that I could relate so much!! :)) I am really a calorie concious type of person. I'm very keen in terms of the nutrients label on every food I eat..And the first thing that I always look upto is the % of calories! How nice to know that I don't even need to be afraid anymore of my calorie intake as long as I take the enough amount everyday! :) thanks yo mama! you take my anxiety away and help me loose more weight!

@Jansel buencaloloy..girl, ms. Ocon is indeed right! if you want to loose weight you musn't deprive your body from food because it is where you take all the energy you need in order to continue living! Instead, read more of the healthy diet tips by yo Mama and it would guarantee you to have no painful stomachaches anymore! :)

  84. @ Miss Laguda, I'm just saying that insecure and sick people really count their calories and that's all.

  85. @mr. arizobal:

wrong use of adjective, i think. :))) instead of easiest, i think i meant it's the fastest way to see the results. try eating less for a couple of weeks or months and you'll see instant results. it's not the best way though, with the negative effects and all. :D but yeah i get your point. resisting food is not easy, i can't resist food myself. :))

  86. There are so many ways to BURN CALORIES and FIGHT FAT! Exercise will help you burn calories. If you want to prolong this calorie-burning effect then it is best to exercise in long periods. Do you know that doing strength training that would help build muscle mass , and muscle tissue then burns more calories even at rest ?? Other effective ways are drinking caffeinated Green or Black Tea , by not skipping breakfast , eating Low-Fat Dairy, even by drinking 8 cups of water a day can help , through fidget and many many more !

ms.Rosales: yeah! you're right, it is really proven that it is one of he fastest way .. i mean, who wouldn't lose weight after eating less for a couple of weeks and months..Specifically, eating the right kind of food ..

    ReplyDelete
  87. i think this article tells us that we need calories in our body which produces energy in our body. sometimes we can say that calories will destroy our body or we gain lots of weight but we should take it moderately. not too much but moderately. even the old ones take calories as their hindrance to their health... so guys make sure that your still to young take calories with small amount..
